Safety On The Water
 
The RNLI operate an excellent free inspection and advice service concerning levels of safety equipment (SEA Check) and can be contacted on 0800 328 0600 or via the RNLI website, www.rnli.org.uk.
 
The RYA publish several booklets that specify the safety equipment and methods which should be used and adhered to in order to achieve safety on the water.  Their website, www.rya.org.uk,  details these on their 'SHOP' page and also offer valuable advice on their 'KNOWLEDGE BASE' page.
 
The MCA (the Maritime and Coastguard Agency) is responsible throughout the UK for implementing the Government’s maritime safety policy. That includes co-ordinating search and rescue at sea through Her Majesty’s Coastguard, and checking that ships meet UK and international safety rules. They work to prevent the loss of lives at the coast and at sea, to ensure that ships are safe, and to prevent coastal pollution Safer Lives, Safer Ships, Cleaner Seas.  For valuable information regarding safety at sea go to, www.mcga.gov.uk.
